The latest climate science from the IPCC - described by the UN as “code red for humanity” - shows it is still possible to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C, but we are dangerously close to that threshold. Therefore, it is highly urgent to cut in halving global emissions before 2030 and achieving net-zero before 2050.
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis.
The SBTi develops standards, tools and guidance which allow companies to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions targets in line with what is needed to keep global heating below catastrophic levels and reach net-zero by 2050 at latest.
The SBTi is incorporated as a charity and their partners are CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the We Mean Business Coalition, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has approved Bechtel Naturkäsewerk GmbH & Co. KG ’s near-term science-based emissions reduction target:
Bechtel Naturkäsewerk GmbH & Co. KG commits to reduce scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions 46% by 2030 from a 2019 base year, and to measure and reduce its scope 3 emissions.
